What is Alpha

What is my purpose? What happens when I die? Why is there suffering?

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to ask life’s big questions. Alpha is a chance to ask these questions and explore the Christian faith in a fun, no-pressure environment. Each session includes a short video and a discussion period where you can talk through your thoughts and questions with a small group of people just like you. No pressure. No judgement. No charge. Just real conversations.

Alpha is designed to be a space for people who wouldn’t typically go to church, and wouldn’t call themselves a Christian, where no question is off-limits. Feel free to say anything that is on your mind, or nothing at all.

Connect

Every session begins with a time to connect, relax, eat, and build friendships. Alpha is about creating a safe space to speak openly and that starts with building trust.

Watch

Each week we view a short video that unpacks the basics of the Christian faith, exploring questions like, “Does life have a purpose?”, “Is there a God?”, and “Who is Jesus?”.

Discuss

After watching the short video, there is a discussion around the week’s topic and any other questions you may have. We welcome your honest thoughts and questions.

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How can I have faith?
  • Why and how do I pray?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible
  • How does God guide us?

FAQ About Alpha

Alpha is for anyone who is interested in talking about life’s biggest questions in a safe and causal context. 20 million people have attended Alpha courses in tens of thousands of churches, cafes, workplaces and pubs around the world. Alpha engages people wherever they are on their journey.

Nope! Alpha is completely free.

No, you don’t have to attend every session although every session is valuable. We believe Alpha is an amazing program and so we would encourage you to make to most out of it. If you do miss a session, we can send you the material to get you caught up.

Alpha is all about being flexible. If you missed the first session, or the first three sessions you are still more then welcome to attend. You can join in the conversation wherever we are in the series.

Although we think that Alpha is for most people, we understand that it’s not for everyone. If you attend an Alpha session and don’t enjoy your time, there is no pressure to come back.

No, it’s not a requirement to register for Alpha to attend Alpha. It’s just helpful on our end to know who and how many people are coming so we can best prepare our sessions. If you haven’t registered for Alpha, but you would like to come out, you are more than welcome.
