WORSHIPING TOGETHER – Sunday July 12, 2020

We pray that you were encouraged by the Vimeo Worship and Dale Winder’s message, Modelling the Conduct and Character of Christ. We want to thank Dale and all of those who participated in creating this week’s service. We are so grateful for your contributions.

As you continue to worship together in your online and household groups, we offer the following as a guide:

Opening Prayer: (Read by a Single Voice)

Almighty God, thank you for your shelter, provision, and protection. We are a grateful people. You sent your Son to show us your ways. You sent your Spirit to guide us. Your Word shares the stories of the first disciples, those that chose to follow Jesus and model his conduct and character. We pray today that we would be encouraged and have the courage to also live a life of Christ-likeness. Help us to do our part to build your Kingdom here by modelling Jesus to others, proclaiming the gospel, leading a life of prayer, and endeavoring to lead a life that is Holy and Pleasing to you. We pray this through your sent Spirit and because of the love of your Son. Amen.

Reading Scripture: (Take Turns Reading)

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)

For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. 1 Thessalonias 1:4-8 (NIV)

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)

Checking In:

  • What does it look like for you to demonstrate a dependence on the Holy Spirit?
  • Prayer has many forms, of the list that Dale provided, is there a form that you might try this week (Praise, Waiting, Confession, Scripture Praying, Watching, Intercession, Petition, Thanksgiving, Singing, Meditation, Listening)?

Close in prayer for one another and then with these words: (Read by a Single Voice)

20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 (NIV).
