WORSHIPING TOGETHER – APRIL 5, 2020 – PALM SUNDAY

We encourage you to worship together, whether that be as a household or in your virtual group. If you are meeting as a virtual group, your host will invite you to two zoom meetings. The worship service below is divided into 3 parts (Zoom Meeting, Worship and Message, Zoom Meeting).

PART 1 Preparing for Worship (15-20 Minutes) (meeting online with your Zoom group)

Introduction to Zoom/Zoom Church (Zoom Host)

Dear Brother’s and Sister’s in Christ,

As I look out my window this morning I am reminded of God’s beauty. As the sun shines, and streams into my window, I sense a warmth. It is my hope that you are sensing His warmth in your times of prayer, reflection and faith in Him.

Last week Pastor Dale opened with an important comment reminding us that “God is with us”, we can find peace in this knowledge. We are Citizens of Heaven and need to live with distinction as citizens of Heaven, live with expectation as we await the return of our Savior, live with endurance, standing firm in the Lord. Allow God to continue to grow you and strengthen you in these areas of faith.

Today, we ask God to prepare our hearts as we worship together. Let’s be excited in the knowledge and truth that The King is Coming! It is Palm Sunday, shout out to Him with praise! Be reminded of this beautiful verse in scripture.

Mark 11:9 ESV

And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

God bless you as you enter into a time of prayer, song, teaching, and celebration!

Call to Worship (One Voice):

As we gather here today, we think of that day when Jesus entered Jerusalem, humbly riding on a colt. The people singing “Hosanna!”

We remember that he entered the temple and looked around. Let us welcome him here today. Let us imagine him looking around into our circumstances.

May our eyes be open to see Him and may our hearts be ready to be seen by Him. And may we see the world through His eyes.

We sing Hosea in the Highest. Come Lord Jesus. Amen.

Prayer (One Voice):

Sovereign Lord, we welcome you here today. We admit that this Palm Sunday just doesn’t feel the same. We miss seeing the children parade their palms. We miss hearing them sing and seeing them dance. We miss all those things that we associate with this day. But you call us. We don’t need a building to be your church. You tell us that we are your church. And so, as we begin this Holy Week, we give thanks for this day. This day that you have made. This day that we have come together to praise you, even if it feels uncomfortable and unusual. We will sing and offer our worship to you. We will rejoice in our identity as your children and give thanks that, even in these unusual times, we can still sing out our praises. We exalt you. We give you glory. You are our King. With our brothers and sisters around the world, we wave our palms, we lay them down, we cry out Hosanna, and welcome you here. Amen.

Scripture Reading (One Voice): Psalms 118:1-7 (NIV)

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

Let Israel say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say:
“His love endures forever.”

When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies.

Hosanna

Verse 1

I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whole earth shakes yeah

Verse 2

I see His love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing

Chorus

Hosanna hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

Verse 3

I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

Verse 4

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees
We’re on our knees

Bridge

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

King Of Kings

Verse 1

In the darkness we were waiting
Without hope without light
Till from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes

To fulfil the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt

Verse 1

Praise the Father
Praise the Son
Praise the Spirit three in one
God of Glory
Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings

Verse 2

To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross

For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died

Verse 3

And the morning that You rose
All of heaven held its breath
Till that stone was moved for good
For the Lamb had conquered death

And the dead rose from their tombs
And the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who’d come
To the Father are restored

Verse 4

And the Church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this Gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel shall not faint

By His blood and in His Name
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
Who has resurrected me

PART 3 Responding Together (meeting online with your Zoom group)

Responding with Prayer (One Voice)

Lord Jesus, we thank you for this time that we have had with one another and with you. We proclaim you as King. As we begin Holy Week, we are reminded that this week will take us through the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. Prepare us, we pray. We wait to hear your still, small voice. Give us the courage to answer it. In the temptation to do so, give us the strength not to deny you. We are your people, help us to show you to the world. Empower us to share you through a phone call, a bag of groceries dropped off for a neighbour, a piece of art in our windows, the making of noise to thank our first responders, a devotion that we share with a friend, a word of encouragement on Instagram, a piece of Scripture on Facebook, a prayer for our world. We pray now for each another; for the vulnerable among us; for our leaders in the church, in the community and in the world. We pray for those who have lost jobs and are unsure of their livelihoods. We pray for those who have taken on extra burdens and who are needing rest. We pray for the children who are missing their friends and for the families who are separated by doors and windows. Help us to remain focused on you and on the cross. Hear our prayer, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Responding/Blessing with Scripture (One Voice): Psalms 118:26-29 (NIV)

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
From the house of the Lord we bless you.[b]
27 The Lord is God,
and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up[c] to the horns of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will praise you;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.

29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
