WORSHIPING TOGETHER – Sunday May 10, 2020

We pray that you were encouraged by the Vimeo Worship and Pastor Kathy’s message from the Book of Ruth titled, Extraordinary Women, Faithful Moms.

As you continue to worship together in your online and household groups, we offer the following as a guide:

Opening Prayer: (Read by a Single Voice)

Heavenly Father, thank you for your love for us. Thank you for your Word that teaches us how to live and love like Jesus. Thank you for your Word that gives us so many examples of faith and of lives lived by faith. We pray today for the strength and courage to live lives of faith, to grow each day in the likeness of Christ. On this day where we join in the celebration of Mothers, we give thanks for the women in our lives who have encouraged us to know you, to learn about you, and to learn to be like you. We give you thanks for their legacy. We give you thanks for the way they reflect you to us. Help us to learn from them and from their legacy. Keep them safe in your care. We pray through the love of your Son and the power of your Spirit. Amen.

Reading Scripture: (Take Turns Reading)

1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.  Romans 5:1-2 (NLT)

For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:2-5 (NIV)

21 And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Matthew 21:21-22 (ESV)

Checking In:

  • How are you extending the spiritual legacy of the females in your community of memory?
  • The biblical account of these women found in scripture remind us of certain characteristics and behaviours that we may want to possess. What is one thing you would like to remember from their experiences that may help you to grow?

Close in prayer for one another and then with these words: (Read by a Single Male Voice)

May God, who created male and female in His image, create in us a desire to show Him to the world.

May God, who became incarnate by an earthly mother, teach us to nurture and show compassion to others.

And May God, with birthed us through love, guide us in all our relationships that we would love others like we love Him.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit bless us today and help us be a blessing to others. Amen.
